What is Svaroopa®Yoga?
"Svaroopa" means the light of your own being. It arises from within, to fill your life and relationships with light, love and joy.
~ Gurudevi Nirmalananda
This is a yoga practice that creates a spinal opening by releasing tensions in the deepest layers of your body. The poses are decompressing your spine yet it is your spinal cord and nervous system that are of primary importance not just your vertebrae. This affects your organs and all body systems. As the body releases your mind quiets. This is the goal of every yoga class.
Svaroopa®Yoga Teacher(CSYT)@ 500 hr. Registered as a RYT 500 with Yoga Alliance, the national register of yoga teachers. A Certified Embodyment Yoga Therapist(CEYT) through Svaroopa® Vidya Ashram.
I am a retired RN, having worked @ UW Health West Towne Pediatrics for 25 years. I have four daughters,10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I live in Verona, Wi, with my husband and my mother.
Thirteen years ago, I took my first Svaroopa® Yoga class @ Springdale Yoga & Meditation Center. Resting in Shavasana, I felt at home inside my body and mind. After 6 months, I began taking teacher training classes. I continue to take classes. Now I am focused on teaching online therapeutic poses to my students.
During the Covid pandemic, there is a need to continue our yoga practices more than ever so we may deal with the physical and emotional isolation that it has caused. My joy is connecting with students in each class and witnessing the changes that they are experiencing in their body and mind and more...

*Zoom Classes: In 2020, I took online classes through Svaroopa Vidya Ashram, specializing in Teaching Online Therapeutics. In 2021, I will complete my certification. In class, I will guide you through a process that utilizes movement, pressure, or breathing to reach the deepest tensions in your body. The process takes longer than a pose without movement. It’s a process in which the different stages provide a layering effect, meaning the poses reach through layers of tension, each stage dissolving deeper layers.
Cost/$15.00 per class.
(4) Classes for $55.
(6) Classes for $75 (buy 5, get 1 free!).
"I certainly notice how much more relaxed and refreshed I feel after yoga. I find it a great way to spend the day! Learning how to listen to my inner breath has helped in relaxing me whenever I start to feel a little anxious. I've also felt less tension in my muscles and after doing the poses."
"I have recently begun this yoga class and am enjoying this type of yoga very much. I have gotten one-on-one guidance and instruction. I have always wondered if I am doing things correctly with alignment, placement, etc. Judy will tweak my form to ensure the best results from the various moves. I am not a yoga natural. I have taken so many other yoga classes and have not clicked with any until now! Initially I though because the moves are slower and more deliberate that I wasn't getting a lot out of it, but I am. I have been more flexible, relaxed and also, sore, after a few of the classes as I don't usually use the muscles that are addressed in this method of yoga. Judy's kind and patient direction is so relaxing and empowering!"
